to A23 to the outskirts of Brighton follow signs for town centre/seafront
travelling past Fire Station on left at Preston Circus.Turn
left at Fire Station into Viaduct Road, turn right at the traffic lights at the
top and follow the road down. Bear left at
the traffic lights and right into Grand Parade.
Head
towards the seafront until you see a sign directing you to the left to the Royal
Sussex County Hospital. Turn left into Edward Street.
Continue
up the hill, passing the American Express building on the left, through one set
of traffic lights brings you into Eastern Road. Continue along Eastern Road passing
the Gala Entertainment Centre on your left, then Brighton College.
The
main entrance to the hospital is on the left hand side of the road.

Parking
Car
parking is very difficult at the County Hospital, all parking around the hospital
is metered. It is not unusual for people to queue for more than 30 minutes to
get a space. Please leave plenty of time to park. Please use other forms of transport
if possible.

There is a pay-and display
car park at the front of the main building and there is the multi-storey car park
at the back of the hospital site where you pay when you leave. The pay stations
are in the car park at the exit.
The multi-storey car park is situated on the North Access Road which is accessed from Bristol gate third entry on the left travelling up Bristol Gate (immediately after the A & E entrance). This car park is a pay-on-foot car park. Take a ticket to enter and when ready to leave pay at the machine return to your vehicle and use the ticket to exit.
Cycles
The main cycle parking areas on this site are located to the west of the main Barry Building, to the east of the Jubilee Block on the A & E forecourt outside the multi-storey car park and inside the multi-storey car park by the entrance. There is no charge
for parking a motorbike. Bicycle racks are available too.
Motorcycles
The main motorcycle parking areas are to the west of the main Barry Building, to the east of the Jubilee Block on the south side of the car park, on the A&E forecourt and in the multi-storey car park on Level 6A.
Disabled
Bays
There are 2 disabled
parking bays in St Georges Road outside Sussex House. An additional disabled parking
bay is in Abbey Road to the right of the main Sussex House entrance.
The multi-storey has 20 disabled bays located on Level 6 which gives direct access into the hospital and 6 dedicated renal bays for regular renal patients.
At the front of the main hospital site there is a pay and display car park for patients and visitors only. This has 12 disabled bays outside the Physiotherapy Department (Latilla building) and 5 disabled bays by the car park entrance.

The
40X bus runs from Haywards Heath, Princess Royal Hospital to Royal Sussex County
Hospital hourly, Mondays to Fridays between 7am and 7pm. Single fare: £3.20,
Return fare: £4.80. This service is free to staff and patients who show appropriate
identification and also to 'Countycard' holders after 9am.

Brighton
is served by South Central and Thameslink Trains. For information about train
times and services, call National Rail Enquiries on 08457 74850. The 14b,
14c, 37, 47, 52 and 57 buses from the station go to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

is located in Paston Place opposite the main entrance to the hospital.
Concessionary
fares and taxi vouchers
A
Sussex County Card entitles residents over 60 in Mid Sussex or Brighton to free
travel on all buses weekdays after 9am and all day Saturdays and Sundays. Alternatively,
Mid Sussex residents with restricted mobility who are travelling to hospital by
taxi are entitled to taxi vouchers totalling £30 for the year. To be eligible
you must:
Be in
receipt of Disability Living Allowance or Attending Allowance
Hold a diabled
persons parking permit or have a doctors signature.
